TERMINO is glad to unveil a new spatial collaboration; between Interior Architect Cristina Poelk, and designer Laura Dauby.
Cristina's vision also brings to life a new TERMINO configuration. The innovative "countertable"—allowing the island to serve as both a breakfast bar and a central gathering spot, perfect for casual meals or conversation while cooking.
Modernism & Postmodernism
Nestled within an expansive open-plan room, the space seamlessly integrates the kitchen, living, and dining areas. Cristina’s approach reflects her appreciation for honest materials and architectural history, thoughtfully blending elements of modernist and post-modernist design.
“I wanted the kitchen to be the centre of the home," she explained. "Not tucked away or hidden in a corner. You walk into this vast room, and the first thing you see is the kitchen—it's impossible to ignore, and that’s by design.”
What sets the space apart is its architectural openness. A mezzanine balcony floats above the kitchen-living area, further enhancing the airy, light-filled atmosphere created by the floor-to-ceiling windows that allow natural sunlight to flood in.
Cosy Sophistication
The mirrored wall in the kitchen reflects that natural light, making the room feel even more expansive, while the balance of materials—from raw concrete to metal, wood, and the blood red tiles—creates a sophisticated yet cosy environment.
Shades of red dominate the colour palette of the bold space, led by the midcentury tiling of the kitchen area. These hues contrast with the industrial elements of the space, including raw concrete walls and a chipboard accent wall where a sleek, flush TERMINO unit stands proudly.
